Play without an account

The Mac app saves puzzle attempts, results, totals and preferences on your Mac using Unity PlayerPrefs. The website and installed PWA save in browser storage. A previous local save is retained for recovery. Browser data removal or app data deletion can remove these saves.

Optional Google sign-in

If you choose to connect, Google provides a stable account identifier, name and email address. We use these only to identify your WordTwiq account and sync your game. We do not request Gmail, contacts or Drive access, or store your Google password.

Cloudflare hosts the game and stores your account, session records and puzzle progress. The Mac keeps its sign-in token in macOS Keychain. The web uses a secure, HttpOnly session cookie. Sessions expire after 30 days. Local play continues offline and sync retries when connected.

How scores merge

A dated puzzle counts once. A completed winning attempt takes priority over a loss or incomplete attempt; otherwise the longer attempt is retained, with a deterministic tie-break. If attempts diverge, both histories are retained for recovery, but only the selected result contributes to the tally. Hint use is preserved. Separate practice games count separately. Earlier totals are carried over once per original device.

Guest progress is imported when you first connect this device to an account. After that, automatic guest import is limited to that same account. Account saves remain separate from guest play and from other accounts. Sound, volume and motion settings stay on each device.

Retention and control

Cloud saves remain until you request deletion. Up to 20 prior save revisions are retained for recovery. Cloudflare’s infrastructure backups may retain deleted data for a limited recovery period. Expired sign-in requests are cleared daily. Sign out in Stats → Account to return to guest play. Offline sign-out disconnects this game locally; server sessions expire automatically.

To request an export, deletion or privacy help, contact dfrankiej@gmail.com from the email linked to your game. Signing out alone does not delete cloud or local saves.

Sharing and technical information

Results are private until you choose Share. A shared result shows guess patterns and hint use, without answer words or your email. No advertising or marketing trackers are added. Cloudflare processes network information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service. Limited operational logs report errors; game contents and credentials are not intentionally logged.

Synced scores are personal progress records, not a verified competitive leaderboard. The game is intended for general audiences; an account is never needed to play.
